Congrats Graduate Researchers!!!

We ratified the Tentative Agreement this week and now have a contract through 2027!

Our ratification vote begins 8/28!  All dues-paying members will receive a link to vote via Election Buddy. Your ballot must be cast by 5pm on 8/31.

We have reached a Tentative Agreement! Your bargaining team and OHSU's team worked hard to come to an agreement that we believe represents a fair compromise between the team's positions.

Our current contract expires in June 2023, therefore we have to start thinking about bargaining now!

Do you know someone passionate about advocating for change at the legislative level? Nominate a colleague of yours to attend the AFL-CIO convention on March 18-20, 2022 to represent GRU, Local 402!

We are collecting nominations for delegates to attend, and a formal election (in the form of another survey) will go out to officially elect a delegate. All registration fees will be covered.

We finally have some progress to report on our health insurance issues. I imagine most of you remember the whole-unit drop from PacificSource that happened in February; we want to take a minute to provide some background on the issue, and give you all an update on the progress we’ve been able to make.

As most members are by now aware, we learned on the morning of 2/11/22 that PacificSource was erroneously reporting that all GRU members had no health insurance, resulting in the denial of coverage to anyone who tried to see a doctor today.  Please see below for an update on the status of that situation.

It has been a busy day for us at GRU. We have over 80 grievances currently in progress regarding the health insurance issue that was brought to our attention this morning. We received the following message from HR this evening:

Ahoy there, bargaining unit member! Welcome to the new academic and work year, 2021-2022. On September 23rd, 2021, we hosted our second-ever General Membership Meeting (GMM), and our first this year! This event was open to all registered, dues-paying graduate researchers and due to COVID-19 was held via Zoom. At this meeting, we:

On February 18, 2021, we hosted our first-ever General Membership Meeting (GMM)! This event was open to all registered, dues-paying graduate researchers and due to COVID-19 was held via Zoom. At this meeting, we:

Graduate Researchers United condemns the police murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, and David McAtee and the violent repression of protests by police around the country. We stand in solidarity with demonstrators who are fighting for racial justice and an end to police brutality.

According to Dr. Danny Jacob’s email from last Thursday, OHSU is making changes in order to address the budget deficit brought on by COVID-19. Dr. Jacobs’s email contained information about how salary cuts will be implemented for research staff and faculty. If anyone attended Peter Barr-Gillespie’s Research Town Hall yesterday, you may have heard that OHSU will likely approach GRU to re-negotiate stipends.
