Scotty Farley (he/they)

GRU President

I’m a 6th year student in the PMCB program working between the labs of Carsten Schultz and Fikadu Tafesse. After focusing on extremely theoretical chemistry during my bachelor’s at Reed College, I decided I wanted to do something a bit more directly applicable to the world, and I’ve since been slowly morphing into a lipid biochemist/virologist, and now the president of GRU. I’m delighted to be a part of the leadership team of this new union. When I’m not synthesizing lipids or trapped in the BSL-3, I’m probably either running through various Portland parks or knitting overly elaborate sweaters.
