M. Kathrina Oñate (she/they)

Vice President of Communications

Kathrina is a 4th year graduate student in the PMCB program/Cancer Biology department in Mara H. Sherman’s lab. Her work focuses on pancreatic stellate cells’ evolution and function throughout the development in PDAC. Before graduate school, Kathrina earned their B.S. in Genetics and Genomics at University of California, Davis, then spent two-and-a-half years at Stanford University under J. Michael Cherry's lab as part of the ENCODE (Encyclopedia of DNA Elements) project.

In their spare time, they like to find all the good foods in Portland, do yoga, and go to concerts (as safely as one can in these COVID times). She's a bit spontaneous so if you ever want to do something but don't want to do in alone, she'll probably join you and create some playful chaos.
