Hello fellow scientists!

Last week in the bargaining session, the Union proposed three more contract articles, bringing the total to 27. Management provided counter proposals to another 1/3 articles, bringing their total to 6 and 2/3. Management then accused the Union of slowing down the bargaining process. Yes, you read that correctly.

Your bargaining team entered their seventh session on May 23rd. So far, the Union has submitted 24 articles to Management. Management has agreed to 1 article and provided counterproposals to 5 and 1/3 articles.

Things got pretty heated at the last bargaining session. I think you should all be aware of what happened, so today I’ll get right into it.

They’ll be coming back to the table tomorrow, April 25 from 9:00-2:00 in School of Nursing room 122. Right now your bargaining team is doing everything humanly possible to make sure that this was the last time you’ll ever have to file taxes from a 1099 (until you start your own business of course). If you’re like me, you probably followed this handy three step procedure for filing:

          1. Enter your tax forms into TurboTax like a good law-abiding citizen

          2. Observe the results, panic, and slam your laptop shut

I'll be hitting your inboxes shortly with a summary of what happened, but today I'd like to respond to the 'Bargaining Update and Q&A' sent out by the management team last week.
